Last month I decided to do a 100 happy days project on Instagram. I joined Instagram in 2011, and then took a break from it. The reason why is because I thought it was becoming too commercial. A lot of celebrities and designers were posting their bags and makeup, which is fine, but I didn't want to see it. So I took a break and got back into in 2014 through my project.
Along with Instagram, I discovered a lot of free photo apps, which in my opinion are brilliant, but takes away from using photoshop and shooting with a DSLR. This iphone photography is so easy anyone can do it and the apps associated with it are beautiful but is the quick and dirty way to correctly apply filters, double exposure, layers etc based in photoshop. As an amateur photographer using photoshop, I struggled to buy expensive equipment, build a studio, took 2 photoshop classes at the International Center for Photography, paid models, and applied post photography edits. Now these apps and my phone make it too easy! I can't believe it! I don't have to do anything of the stuff mentioned above. Sure my iphone photos look great, and anyone can see them, but I still feel like technology is making everyone lazy and no one is really learning photography. Oh well, such is life. Here are my favorite photos so far using my iphone, and some apps. |
My short blog topics include: photography, music, science, crafts, vacation photos, movies, events in NYC, and of course stop motion animation.
