On Tuesday evening, only 3 people showed up to my stop motion class, including me! (There are normally 8 students) WTF people? Where are you? So I asked Voltaire, when we were going to start animating, because we only have 4 weeks left, including tonight. We haven't animated at all. We all have been working on our damn puppets! But I am done! He asked are you ready, and I answered YES! So he told me where to get the equipment. Since I didn't have my laptop, I had to do it the old fashion way: get a lunchbox! WTF is a lunchbox? It's a small box shaped like you guessed it, a lunchbox! It is a frame grabber capable of recording individual frames, and playing it back on a monitor. So we have: a huge, old video camera on a tripod connected to the lunchbox, which is connected to a huge, old gray computer monitor. (See above pictures. That's what they looked like!) I set up my puppet and then you have to take a frame by pressing the black button on the left with a camera on it. Move your puppet, take a frame, move your puppet, take a frame. Repeat about 138 times. Then you can watch it on the monitor, by pressing the Play button on the lunchbox. Of course this was my first time with this archaic equipment, but I made the best of it! Too bad I couldn't record my first little 4 second short on a USB. The lunchbox didn't have an outlet for a USB, since it's so fucking old! Voltaire said there was a way to do it, but I'm sure I'll just bring my laptop next week.
